About Our Name Change

The decision to change our name to “Cross of Hope Church” stems from a desire to better communicate our core mission: Helping people find and follow Jesus Christ. While “Parma Heights Baptist Church” has served us well for decades, we believe that “Cross of Hope Church” more clearly emphasizes our message of salvation in Christ rather than focusing on a denominational or geographic label.

We are not changing our Baptist distinctives or our doctrinal beliefs. We remain committed to our Baptist roots and will continue to teach these principles in our Membership Class. Our partnerships with organizations like the North American Baptist (NAB) Conference will also remain strong.

This change reflects our broader mission to reach people across our region, not just in Parma Heights. Many of our members come from surrounding areas, and we want our name to reflect our wider community impact. In today’s post-Christian culture, denominational titles can sometimes be a barrier, and we want to remove any obstacles that might prevent someone from visiting our church.

By adopting the name “Cross of Hope Church” we focus on the central message of the gospel: the sacrificial death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We believe this name better aligns with our mission to point people to Christ and His finished work on the cross as the only source of true hope.
